Frequently Asked Questions

What is the format of the tournament?

VizCup 2026 is a six-a-side indoor cricket league tournament. Tournament runs Jan 10 - Feb 22, 2026. Matches on Saturdays and Sundays.

How does the pair batting system work?

Batting is conducted in three fixed pairs. Each pair bats for exactly 2 overs (12 legal deliveries), regardless of dismissals. Pair 1: Overs 1-2, Pair 2: Overs 3-4, Pair 3: Overs 5-6. Dismissed batters continue batting.

How is scoring calculated?

Runs are based on which net the ball hits: Front net = 1, Side zones = 1/2/3, Back net bounce = 4, Back net full = 6. Net Score = Total Runs - (5 × Dismissals) + Bonus Runs. Physical running required if no net is hit.

What is the Dot-Ball Dismissal rule?

A batter is out if they fail to score runs from three consecutive legal deliveries. This results in a 5-run deduction. Wides and no-balls don't count as legal deliveries for this rule.

How do wides and no-balls work?

Wide: 1 run penalty + rebowl (not a legal delivery). No-ball: 1 run penalty + rebowl + Free Hit (not a legal delivery). Three consecutive extras awards 2 bonus runs to batting team.

What equipment is mandatory?

Non-marking indoor shoes and team uniform required. Helmets mandatory for U15 and below batters. Gloves strongly recommended. No metal spikes, jewelry, or electronic devices allowed on field.

How many players are needed?

Squad size: 6-9 players. Minimum 6 players required to start and field at all times. Unlimited substitutions between overs. All six fielding players must bowl one over each.

What happens if scores are tied?

One Super Over per team is played (3 batters, 1 bowler). If still tied, tiebreakers are: fewer wickets in main match, higher total runs, fewer dismissals, then coin toss.

What is the Net One-Hand Catch rule?

If the ball hits any part of the net and is caught cleanly with ONE hand only, the batter is out with a 5-run deduction. Two-hand catches or rebounds don't count as dismissals.

When should teams arrive?

Teams must arrive 30 minutes before match time. Match duration is approximately 60 minutes with a 5-minute innings break.
